Caffeine- how much can I have?

But how much caffeine is too much? Did you even know there is a recommended maximum amount? If you did - keep reading for some of the reasons why we should follow it and other considerations.

What is the most that is recommended?
Per the Mayo Clinic up to 400 mg of caffeine a day is safe in MOST health adults. How much is that? 4 cups of coffee, 10 cans of pop, or 4 Freshen Up Energy drinks (3.5 cans)!

However, caffeine in powder can be EXTREMELY concentrated some have even had as high of concentration levels of 1 tsp equaling 28 cups of coffee.

Women who are trying to become pregnant, pregnant, or breastfeeding should first talk to their doctor and second it is recommended that these women stay under 200 mg of caffeine per day. What are you some signs you are intaking too much caffeine?
Headache
Insomnia
Nervousness
Irritability
Frequent and/or inability to control urination
Fast Heartbeat
Muscle tremors
If you are someone who is easily affected by caffeine you may find yourself restless or having sleep problems, while consuming only small amounts of caffeine. Caffeine has a very long half-life. Most, on average, is around 5 hours. However, it can take up to 10 hours for the caffeine to completely clear your bloodstream. So, make sure you are not chugging caffeine until a few hours or moments prior to rest. This means if you are drinking coffee past 2 pm you want a bedtime at or later than 10 pm.
Let me guess, you drink caffeine all through the evening, huh? Please remember that medicines AND herbal supplements you may be on can interact with caffeine and often have unpleasant side effects. Please check with your doctor regarding these.
